On July 30, the Chapin Talon 10U baseball team beat the Lexington-based Predators baseball team for the Global World Series (GWS) championship at Tyger River Park in Spartanburg.

The GWS is the last and most prestigious USSSA tournament of the season.

The Talon began the tournament by dropping their first game to the Predators. But they responded by going on a 5-0 run to set up a rematch with the Predators for the title game. The Talon beat the Predators 5-2 to earn the championship.

Along the way the Talon beat the Elite Diamond Dogs, the Lightening Cavs, and the Upstate Angels, including three consecutive one-run victories.

Winning pitchers for the Talon included Caden Reeves (x3), Banks McGlohorn, Zack Parker, and Trevin Garner.

The Chapin Talon 10U is a travel baseball team organized through Crooked Creek Park, and is comprised of boys from Chapin. The Talon baseball team’s mission is to better prepare Chapin boys for Chapin middle and high school baseball. The boys are coached by Adam Phelps, and he is assisted by Joe Cromer, Greg McGlohorn, and Kyle Nash.
