Our country is still working to recover from the pandemic and it is important to stay healthy and safe. Please continue following Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines to help keep you, your family, and your friends protected against this disease. If you or your family have concerns about the coronavirus, please visit the CDC’s website or call 1-800-CDC-INFO.
There are also numerous resources from the South Carolina and Federal government to help. You can find a list of testing and vaccine resources on my website, here. This page is updated daily to ensure you and your family have what you need to stay safe and healthy.
Farewell to Fort Jackson Commanding General Beagle
I enjoyed speaking with Fort Jackson Commanding General BG Milford Beagle as he prepares to take command of the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York. He has led Fort Jackson through the pandemic while upholding our Army’s readiness. We’re sad to see him depart South Carolina, but congratulate him and his wife Pamela on their next assignment.
Biden Border Crisis
Even before taking office, President Biden bragged about plans to reverse former President Trump’s efforts to address issues at our southern border. Now there is truly a crisis and there is only one person to blame.
The Iran Human Rights and Accountability Act
Last week, I introduced the Iran Human Rights and Accountability Act of 2021, which stands with the people of Iran and their desire to live in freedom and with basic human rights. I am grateful for the support of Congressmen Jim Banks and Greg Steube on this legislation.
This bill may hopefully be the beginning of a new season for the people of Iran.
We will never forget those lost during the crackdowns on peaceful protests, for which the regime is responsible. In any debate on U.S. policy towards Iran, the rights of people to live in peace and freedom should not be forgotten.
Gold Star Spouses Day
This Monday is Gold Star Spouses Day. A day where we especially honor surviving spouses of military members killed in the line of duty, like Edie Smith and Maggie McCloud. I worked with these two amazing individuals along with many other gold star spouses so that the 2020 NDAA included my legislation to finally axe the unfair Widow’s Tax. I am thankful to Gold Star Spouses and the sacrifices they and their families have made for our country.
I am grateful to represent South Carolina’s Second District.
