Albert Hamilton Robertson Named Lexington One’s 2025 Administrator of the Year

LEXINGTON, S.C. — May 21, 2025 — The Lexington One Educational Foundation honored Mr. Albert Hamilton Robertson with the 2025 Joseph M. Bedenbaugh Administrator of the Year Award at the School District One Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, May 20.

This prestigious award, now in its 20th year, was established in 2005 to recognize an exemplary administrator in Lexington County School District One. It honors the legacy of Joseph M. Bedenbaugh, a founding staff member of the district in 1952, who served in various leadership roles over his 36-year career.

Mr. Robertson, Assistant Principal at Lexington Elementary School, began his career in education 19 years ago after graduating from Newberry College and later earning his Master’s in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of South Carolina. His journey through the district includes roles as a teacher, Lead Teacher for Middle School Social Studies, District Coordinator of Social Studies, and now as a beloved administrator at Lexington Elementary since 2022.

In a nomination supported by fellow educators, administrators, and Principal Patrick Burnett, Mr. Robertson was praised for his energy, leadership, and dedication to creating a positive school culture. Burnett wrote, “Albert Robertson exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding leader, educator, and community member.”

Robertson is known for his enthusiasm and school spirit — from kissing a camel and taking pies to the face, to dressing in countless costumes — all in support of student engagement and school pride.

He has previously been recognized as:

  • 2014 Meadow Glen Middle School Teacher of the Year
  • 2014-15 Lexington District One Teacher of the Year
  • 2016 Gilder-Lehrman SC History Teacher of the Year
  • SC Daughters of the American Revolution Outstanding Teacher of American History

Surrounded by his wife Blair Robertson, a Literacy Interventionist at Centerville Elementary, and their children Gray and Holly Claire, as well as many Lexington Elementary colleagues, Mr. Robertson graciously accepted the award at the board meeting.

Congratulations to Albert Hamilton Robertson, a leader who exemplifies excellence in education and service to his school and community.
