Armed robbery accomplice arrested

Town of Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green has announced the arrest of Jesse Wayne Richards, Age 31 of Lexington, who fled the state after his involvement in an attempted armed robbery that took place on July 10 in Lexington.

On the afternoon of the incident, Jesse Richards drove a co-defendant, Cooper Cole, age 17 of Lexington, to the Towne Centre II shopping complex, which is located on the 900 block of North Lake Drive. Cole approached an elderly female victim in the parking lot with a knife in his hand and demanded money. The victim did not have any money to give and Cole fled from the scene on foot but was later picked up in the vehicle driven by Richards.

Richards is the step-father of Cole and he fled from South Carolina after this incident. He was arrested in Tennessee on the Attempted Armed Robbery and Conspiracy warrants and was extradited to South Carolina November 14.
