Conservation Voters of South Carolina will host its 11th annual Green Tie Luncheon September 18 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm in the Grand Ballroom at Historic 701 Whaley.
This year’s House Conservation Leadership honorees are Representative Nathan Ballentine of Irmo and Representative Mandy Powers Norrell of Lancaster. The Senate Conservation Leadership Award honoree is Senator John Matthews of Orangeburg.
The Harriet Keyserling Advocacy Award will be given to Peg Howell of Pawleys Island for her advocacy work against offshore drilling and seismic testing. The Lifetime Conservation Achievement Award will recognize Dr. William Holliday of Myrtle Beach for countless contributions to the state of South Carolina, including a fundamental role in keeping hog waste lagoons away from South Carolina waterways.
The Green Tie Awards Luncheon will bring over 550 people together to recognize bipartisan efforts to protect the air, land, water, and energy future of South Carolina. Major event sponsors include OceanaGold, NEXTera Energy, Pacolet Milliken Enterprises, and the Solar Energy Industry Association.
The mission of the Conservation Voters of South Carolina is to make conservation and environmental issues a top priority among South Carolina’s elected leaders, political candidates, and voters.
