The District Five Board of Trustees has finalized and approved the 2025-2026 Year-Round Modified Academic Calendar, setting key dates for the upcoming school year. During the board meeting on December 9, the calendar was confirmed, with the school year beginning on August 7, 2025, and ending on May 22, 2026.
Fall Break will be observed again in the 2025-2026 academic year. October 10, 2025, will be designated as a staff development and teacher workday, while schools and offices will remain closed on October 13, 2025.
Superintendent Dr. Akil E. Ross, Sr., emphasized the importance of community input in the calendar’s development. “Balancing state requirements with feedback from families, faculty, staff, and community members allows us to create a calendar that meets the diverse needs of our School District Five community,” Dr. Ross said.
Key Dates for the 2025-2026 School Year:
- Thanksgiving Break: November 26–28, 2025
- Winter Break: December 22, 2025 – January 1, 2026
- Spring Break: April 6–10, 2026
- Last Day for Students: May 22, 2026 (half day)
The last three days of the school year, May 20–22, 2026, will be half days for students. Additionally, the calendar includes designated severe weather make-up days to ensure uninterrupted learning.
