District Five names volunteer award winners

District Five has named the winners for its 2019-2020 volunteer awards. Eighteen awards were given out in five categories and plaques were presented to the winners at the schools because of COVID-19 restrictions.

Volunteer award winners included: Dr. Jane Lawther, River Springs Elementary (Elementary School Mentor of the Year); Barbara Whitaker, Chapin Middle (Intermediate/Middle School Mentor of the Year); John Goodale, Spring Hill High (High School Mentor of the Year); Theresa Miley State Farm Insurance, Irmo Elementary (Elementary School Business Partner of the Year); Sarah Eibling, Nelson Mullins LLP & Tucker Player, Player Law Firm, Chapin Middle (Intermediate/Middle School Business Partner of the Year); Susan Robertson, Keller-Williams Realty, Irmo High (High School Business Partner of the Year); Chapin Readers, Chapin Elementary (Elementary School Volunteer Group of the Year); St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, CrossRoads Intermediate (Intermediate/Middle School Volunteer Group of the Year); Building Bridges, Irmo High (High School Volunteer Group of the Year); Keri Lynn Lad, Oak Pointe Elementary (Elementary School Volunteer of the Year); Silkee McClary, Irmo Middle (Intermediate/Middle School Volunteer of the Year); Debra & Sam Barrett, Academy For Success (High School Volunteer of the Year); Oak Pointe Elementary PTO, (Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization of the Year); Chapin Middle School SIC (Intermediate/Middle School Parent Teacher Organization of the Year); and Irmo High School PTO (High School Parent Teacher Organization of the Year).

“We are so thankful for our outstanding volunteers and community support,” said School District Five Superintendent Dr. Christina Melton. “Their contributions and involvement in our schools help with the success of School District Five.”
