School District Five transportation supervisor, Rhonda Watson, has received the Continuing Education award by the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT).
The award, sponsored by Thomas Built Buses, was created to help further the education of a NAPT member in the field of public school transportation.
“It was an honor to be chosen for this national award from among my national peers,” Watson said. “I am currently working on the NAPT Supervisor Certification. In my current role, even with my years of experience in transportation, and my regular education, these courses are unique and help expand my thinking. I value this training and will continue to move toward my current certification goal and the next level.”
Some of the training courses Watson is taking include; Routing and Scheduling, Student Needs and Management, Prioritizing and Evaluating Operational Safety, and others.
Watson has been a school bus driver for over 20 years, for the past year she has served as a supervisor at the Dutch Fork Transportation lot.
“I am proud of Rhonda Watson,” said Dave Weissman, School District Five Transportation Director. “Her continuous learning shows her commitment to keeping herself current on the best practices within our industry and more importantly she takes what she has learned and shares it with her peers and staff. We are fortunate that her efforts support our mission in providing safe student transportation.”
