On Wednesday, August 14, Lexington County School District One dedicated Beechwood Middle School, located at 1340 Highway #378 in Lexington, on 34.57 acres.
The 196,000 square foot middle school is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) candidate school with a focus on computer science essentials in partnership with Code To The Future. The rigorous, inquiry-based, global and holistic course of study will prepare students for any of Lexington District One’s multiple college- and career readiness pathways.
The school opens on Aug. 20, 2019, and houses more than 900 students in grades 6–8. Ninety-seven employees provide administrative, clerical, custodial, food service and instructional services at the school.
BMS believes that relationships are at the core of student success. Students will be provided with a teacher advocate to support them on their learning path and design units of study that develop perseverance, critical thinking and the ability to communicate and collaborate toward a common goal.
