Funding Available for Septic System Repairs in Congaree Creek Watershed

LEXINGTON, S.C. – Lexington County septic system owners located within the Congaree Creek Watershed may be eligible for financial assistance to help repair or replace failing or malfunctioning septic systems.

Residents who live in the Congaree Creek Watershed and are interested in applying for funding can email [email protected]. Homeowners who are unsure whether their property falls within the watershed can view a map at https://tinyurl.com/CongareeCreekMap. To qualify for assistance, the septic system malfunction must be creating an environmental concern.

Through Lexington County’s Congaree Creek Septic 319 Project, eligible homeowners may receive 60–80 percent cost-share assistance for approved septic system repairs or replacements. The program is designed to protect and improve water quality within the watershed.

Additional information about the grant program is available at lcswc.com/water-quality-grants/. Funding is limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Grant funding is provided through an award from the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) to protect water quality in the Congaree Creek Watershed. This project is funded in part by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and administered by SCDES.
