IT Director arrested

The town of Lexington’s Information Technology Director (IT) was charged with using more than $57,000 of the town’s funds to buy items for personal use from Amazon. 

Beatrice Lyons-Daniels, 64, was arrested and booked into the Lexington County Detention Center on March 18 for breach of trust with fraudulent intent with a value of $10,000 or more.

By using the town’s Amazon account and a procurement card issued by the town of Lexington, Lyons-Daniels was able to obtain $57,201.13 worth of merchandise between July 2021 and December 2023 according to the arrest warrant. She was fired from the town in December of 2023 after discrepancies were found by Lexington’s financial administration. 

The Lexington Police Department asked for SLED’s assistance in the investigation.
