Lexington — Lifelong Lexington County resident and small business owner Jason Guerry has officially filed to run for Lexington County Council District 7, pledging a business-minded approach to addressing growth and infrastructure challenges.
The Republican primary is scheduled for June 9, 2026.
Guerry said his campaign will focus on improving local roads, easing traffic congestion, managing growth responsibly and protecting taxpayers.
“Lexington County is a great place to live, work and raise a family, but the growth we’re seeing is putting real pressure on our roads and infrastructure,” Guerry said. “As a small business owner, I believe leadership means solving problems and delivering results — not making excuses or playing politics.”
Guerry, who has lived and worked in Lexington County for more than five decades, said his experience in business has shaped his approach to public service.
“In business, you don’t ignore problems and hope they fix themselves,” he said. “You manage resources responsibly and make decisions that produce results. County government should operate with that same mindset — focusing on the basics like roads, infrastructure and essential services while respecting taxpayers.”
Residents across District 7 have expressed growing frustration as traffic increases and development continues without infrastructure keeping pace. Guerry said the county needs leadership focused on practical solutions rather than politics or special interests.
His campaign priorities include:
-
Managing growth so infrastructure keeps pace with development
-
Improving local roads to support a growing population
-
Reducing traffic congestion by addressing key bottlenecks
-
Opposing unnecessary tax increases
-
Focusing on core county services
“Growth should strengthen our community, not overwhelm it,” Guerry said. “District 7 deserves leadership focused on getting results and protecting the quality of life that makes Lexington County such a special place to call home.”
