Bad weather has created “Championship Saturday” for Lake Murray teams in the S.C. High
School League baseball finals.
Both Lexington and Batesburg-Leesville will play deciding games of their respective Best-of-
Three Series on the same day.
Riley Park in Sumter is where the Wildcats will play host to James Island at 1 p.m. in the Class
5A Division I final. Lexington tied the series Wednesday with a 9-4 victory and is seeking a
second straight state title, third under head coach Brian Hucks and eighth overall.
The Trojans will be the home team for Game 3.
The Class 2A final is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Founders Park on the campus of the University of
South Carolina. Batesburg-Leesville tied the series with Phillip Simmons with a sixth inning
comeback in the 4-3 victory.
The Panthers are the home team for Game 3.
A third series involving Lake Murray teams will resume Monday at Saluda. The Lady Tigers will
look to tie the Class 2A softball final against East Clarendon at 7 p.m. Monday.
A deciding game, if necessary, would be played Monday at Lugoff-Elgin.
