Aug. 30, 2019 – The South Carolina Department of Social Services’ Employee of the Month Program recognizes staff whose work exemplifies our core principles: Competence, Courage and Compassion. Rocky Havird, Technology Services Site Engineer, Columbia area, was recently named an Employee of the Month.
“I was humbled and very appreciative,” he said. “I love having the ability to work with and meet so many people.”
A typical day for Havird includes assisting users with computer issues; guiding employees on proper use of software and hardware configurations; assisting users remotely when needed; and helping keep the Staff Development and Training computers up and functional at the Browning Road and Lexington County offices. He also serves as backup for other Columbia DSS locations.
“Mr. Havird is continually recognized by his customers for the quality of his work, the timeliness of his service, and his great attitude,” his nomination states. “His customers appreciate that he takes the time to work with them to understand their individual technical problems as well as their time constraints.
“While Rocky’s technical abilities are strong, what truly sets Rocky apart is his attitude. He is willing to jump in and get done what must be done, and will then volunteer to help where he can. Rocky is a wonderful asset to our Agency, and we are very grateful that he is part of our team.”
Staff selected as part of the Employee of the Month Program are awarded lunch with the State Director along with other honorees, a dedicated parking space, a photo and write-up displayed at State Office and a write-up sent to their community newspaper.
The other winners were: Brad Bundrick, Benefit Integrity Manger with County Operations Division of Economic Services; Tameka Eiland, Foster Care Worker with Beaufort County DSS; Tammy Fulwood, Domestic Violence Program Coordinator with Adult Advocacy Division; and Richard E. Williams, Criminal Records Analyst with Office of Inspector General.
