The West Columbia Police Officers Foundation is holding its annual 5K Foot Pursuit this Saturday, May 15, at 8 am. Participants will meet at West Columbia City Hall and run/walk through the city’s streets. Drivers should use caution around Meeting Street from 12th Street to 9th Street as participants make their way through the course.
“The West Columbia Police Officers Foundation is proud to offer the annual run,” West Columbia Police Officers Foundation Chairperson Tim James said. “While it’s a fun and healthy opportunity, it’s also a great way for the community to support the mission of the Foundation, which is to provide training and other programs that benefit those who protect and serve us on a daily basis.”
West Columbia Police Chief Dennis Tyndall said, “This is the Foundation’s 5th Annual 5K Run. The support from the community has been overwhelming this year with an anticipated 200 runners for this Saturday’s event. This year’s run coincides with Peace Officers Memorial Day, May 15, which was established by President John F. Kennedy and the Congress of the United States in 1962. We thank you for your support.”
