River Bluff names new head wrestling coach

River Bluff High School announced the appointment of Brandon Feix as the new wrestling coach. Feix will be taking over the reins previously held by Zachri “Storm” Nelson, who recently resigned from his coaching position.

Over the last four years, Coach Nelson has demonstrated leadership, dedication, and commitment to student-athlete success, and is leaving the boys wrestling program in excellent condition.

In his tenure as head wrestling coach at River Bluff, Nelson’s teams earned four playoff berths, once making it to the Lower State finals as a team. Under his guidance, Nelson’s program produced 18 state individual qualifiers, seven state placers, five state finalists, and 1 state champion. 

A current member of the River Bluff boys wrestling coaching staff, Brandon Feix brings a wealth of experience and a high level of passion and grit to the River Bluff wrestling program as its new head coach. In high school, Feix was a two-time state champion, including an undefeated senior season, and was named Class 4A Wrestler of the Year.

His coaching background includes four years as head wrestling coach at Myrtle Beach High School in addition to his most recent four years as an assistant coach at River Bluff. His teams have earned a playoff berth for four consecutive years. Coach Feix has coached 17 individual state qualifiers, six state placers, a state finalist and a state champion.

River Bluff High School is excited about the direction of its boys wrestling program with Brandon Feix at the helm and looks forward to its continued growth and success under his leadership.
