River Bluff tennis plays for state title

The River Bluff girls’ tennis team is seeking its third state title this Saturday at the Cayce Tennis Center.

The Lady Gators defeated Spartanburg 4-2 in the Class 5A Division I Upper State final Tuesday.

To reach the championship, River Bluff defeated Mauldin (5-1) and archrival Lexington (4-2). It will play Wando at 1 p.m. for the title.  

Lady Wildcats fall

in state semifinals

The Lexington High School volleyball team saw its 2024 season come to an end in the Class 5A Division I Upper State final on Monday.

The Lady Wildcats lost in three sets to state power Dorman 25-23, 25-22 and 25-16.

After winning the Region 4-5A title, Lexington opened the playoffs with a 3-0 win over Blythewood. It then played host to archrival River Bluff for the third meeting this season.

After the Lady Wildcats won the first two sets 25-22 and 25-23, the Lady Gators rallied to win 25-20 in set three and 26-24 in set four.

The final set was also closely fought before Lexington got the winner in the 15-13 victory. The Lady Wildcats finished their first season under head coach Erica Hardin with a 25-6 record.
