Section of Saluda Riverwalk to Temporarily Close for Zoo Construction

The Columbia Parks and Recreation Department has announced that a portion of the Saluda Riverwalk trail will be closed beginning January 6 to ensure public safety during heavy construction activities related to Riverbanks Zoo and Garden’s Saluda Sky Ride Gondola Project.

The closure will affect the section of the Riverwalk directly behind Riverbanks Zoo, with access terminating at the east end of the Millrace Boardwalk. Barricades will be in place to mark the closure. The section is expected to reopen by January 13.

Despite the closure, guests will still have full access to the Millrace Boardwalk and can explore the 1.5-mile section of the Saluda Riverwalk that extends west and upstream.
