“Death’s Shadow,” a virtual performance presented by the Friends of the Irmo Branch Library
Join the Friends of the Irmo Branch Library for an evening of murder, mystery and fun as they bring you an interactive murder mystery play, “Death’s Shadow.” The production will come directly to your own living room via Zoom Webinar. You bring the dinner, the Friends will bring the mystery!
The annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theater presentation is generally a live performance held at the River Center at Saluda Shoals Park. But COVID-19 has forced the Friends of the Irmo Branch Library to take this year’s production virtual.
You have a choice of two performances, Friday, Sept. 25, or Saturday, Sept. 26. Both commence at 7 p.m. Cost is $15 per Zoom link — your family and or/friends can watch together. Register through the links at the Friends’ Facebook page or website: www.friendsoftheirmobranchlibrary.org.
The Friends of the Irmo Branch Library is a non-profit, volunteer organization that supports, promotes and helps fund Irmo Branch Library programs, services and materials. The Irmo Branch Library is part of the Lexington County Public Library. Proceeds from the performances support the Friends efforts.
You’ll be joining Geordie Thursday and eight suspects in an English village live in the virtual space, interrogating them, listening to the evidence and submitting your solution via a poll at the end of the evening. The play, based on the British TV mystery series, “Grantchester,” will last about two hours, with breaks between acts. The murder mystery is suitable for teens to adults.
Places are limited, so please register early. You will pay via PayPal, and all “tickets” must be purchased in advance. When you register, you will be sent a link to join the Zoom session on the date you choose, and you will also receive a digital playbill before the performance.
The plot: Welcome to Albert Street, a friendly and quiet neighborhood in Market Snodsbury. It’s Coronation Day 1953, and the neighbors, including Vicar Sidney Chalmers and his housekeeper Mrs. Mafire, have gathered in mystery author Dexter Runcie’s library to watch the ceremonies on Dexter’s new television. Someone notices that Dexter has fallen asleep in his chair! There’s laughter until they realize he isn’t sleeping . . . he’s dead!
