Lexington, SC (December 5, 2025) — Chief Terrence Green is notifying the Town of Lexington community of road closures and traffic detours in place on Sunday, December 7, 2025, due to the Town of Lexington Christmas Parade in downtown Lexington.
Road closures and detours will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the closure of West Butler Street from Columbia Avenue to North Church Street. Additional closures will include Haygood Avenue and portions of Meetze Street to allow parade participants to stage and prepare floats.
The Lexington County Extension Office parking lot at 605 West Main Street will be closed throughout the day for float setup and staging.
The parade route will travel Haygood Avenue → West Main Street/US-1 → North Lake Drive/SC-6. The best viewing area will be along West Main Street from Haygood Avenue to the Main Street/Lake Drive intersection.
To prepare for the 3:00 p.m. parade start, the following roads will close at 2:45 p.m.:

East Main Street at Harmon Street

North Lake Drive at Dreher Street

South Lake Drive at Fort Street
All traffic will be detoured away from downtown Lexington until the parade has concluded.
Main Street/US-1 is expected to reopen at approximately 5:00 p.m. West Butler Street (Columbia Avenue to South Church Street) will remain closed until all parade floats and participants have cleared the roadway.
The Lexington Police Department will collect new, unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots “Pack the Pontoon” campaign, as officers and V.I.P.S. gather donations from parade attendees while a towed pontoon boat travels the route.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure parking and seating. Use public parking lots near the event. Vehicles parked in private business lots may be towed at the owner’s expense. There will be no street parking on either side of South Church Street, Hendrix Street, or Elm Street near downtown Lexington.
