Turning Pages SC will hold its 55th birthday bash, Dive into a Literary Feast, at River’s Edge Retreat on August 26 from 4 – 8 pm,
The organization is commemorating more than five decades of empowering adults through the power of reading.
Over the decades, Turning Pages SC has had more than 1,700 tutors providing personalized, one-on-one tutoring to more than 6,000 learners. Many adult learners come to Turning Pages SC reading below a 3rd-grade level.
At the fundraising event, guests will enjoy a poolside BBQ with an entree, two sides, and a drink. There will also be a birthday cake. But the icing on the cake will be the chance to meet with 20 South Carolina authors participating in the annual Authors for Literacy gathering at the event.
“The impact of literacy is immeasurable, and our volunteers have been the driving force behind changing lives through reading,” said Emily Davison, Chair of the Community Engagement Subcommittee.
In addition to current friends, the event welcomes and encourages anyone who was connected to the Greater Columbia Literacy Council from 1968 to 2007 to also join in.
More information and tickets are available at turningpagessc.org/birthday. All funds raised will directly support literacy programs in 2024.
