LEXINGTON, S.C. – A Batesburg man has been arrested by Lexington County deputies on multiple serious charges, including attempted murder and kidnapping, following a violent incident on Thursday night.
Jerry William Hall, Jr., 29, faces charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, third-degree assault and battery, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of certain crimes, and possession of methamphetamine, according to arrest warrants.
“Deputies were dispatched to a house on Bayonet Road after a 911 call from a concerned neighbor,” said Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon. “When they arrived, they found the victim severely beaten and hiding in the woods.”
According to witnesses, Hall assaulted the victim multiple times over a span of nine hours and locked them inside the house when they tried to escape. Sheriff Koon stated that Hall allegedly punched the victim, kicked them with steel-toed boots, and choked them to the point of unconsciousness.
When witnesses entered the house, Hall reportedly threatened to kill them as well.
“By the time deputies arrived, Hall had already fled the scene,” Koon added. “However, deputies received a tip the following day that Hall was in the 100 block of Buggy Road, where he was subsequently detained.”
Hall was arrested and transported to the Lexington County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond after a magistrate judge denied his release.
