IRMO, S.C. — School District Five issued Golden Passes to more than 300 residents during a two-day sign-up event in July.
The permanent photo identification cards are available to residents who live within the School District Five attendance zone and are 60 years of age or older. Golden Pass holders receive free admission to most School District Five athletic and cultural arts events, excluding playoff games.
District officials say the program encourages older community members to remain involved and active in district-sponsored events and activities.
“The Golden Passes are our way to say thank you to our senior community, many of whom volunteer in our schools each year,” Superintendent Dr. Akil E. Ross Sr. said. “It is also a great way to bring community members of all ages together in support of our students and schools. We are so grateful for all of those who applied for Golden Passes this year.”
School District Five has offered the Golden Pass program for more than two decades. The passes are lifetime passes and do not need to be renewed.
Eligible residents who were unable to attend the July sign-up event may obtain a temporary pass for the 2026-27 school year by visiting the District Office at 1020 Dutch Fork Road in Irmo. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
