Five students from Lexington-Richland School District Five have been recognized for outstanding achievement during the Tri-District Arts Consortium (TriDAC) summer program.
The District Five honorees are:
- Me’Leah Council, Dutch Fork High School — Teachers’ Choice Award in Dance
- Ana Gomez, Irmo Middle School — Stephen Nevitt Award in Visual Art
- Alexandria Jacques, Dutch Fork High School — Barbara H. Thomson Award in Creative Writing
- Ryan Kim, Chapin High School — Brent Wilson Award in Strings II
- Ma’Kayla Davis, Irmo High School — Dr. Anne Richardson Award in Dance
Founded in 1985, TriDAC provides advanced arts instruction for artistically gifted and talented students from Lexington County School District One, Lexington-Richland School District Five, and Richland School District Two. Students earn admission through a competitive three-step selection process that includes teacher or parent nominations, a formal application, and an audition in one of seven artistic disciplines: Creative Writing, Dance, Chorus, Drama, Visual Art, Band, or Orchestra.
Those selected participate in an intensive three-week summer program designed to develop their artistic skills under the guidance of professional instructors. The program concludes with a series of public performances and exhibitions, giving students the opportunity to showcase their talents and celebrate their accomplishments with the community.
