Chapin Garden Club recently received a $250 grant from Espoma Garden Products.
To secure the grant, members were invited to tour Cold Creek Nurseries in Aiken.
Cold Creek Nurseries has been in business since 1977. They pride themselves on being a full-service nursery, providing advice, plants, and supplies to meet any gardening need. Michaela Berley, who has been employed with Cold Creek for more than ten years provided a guided tour of the large facility and shared gardening information in a friendly and entertaining way.
Club members used the $250 grant to obtain a range of organic Espoma products including starter food for bedding plants, all-purpose plant food, evergreen and azalea food, plus several bags of soil perfector. Trays of bright multi-colored pansies and several Buddleia (Butterfly Bush) were also selected. The products and bedding plants will be used to enhance the grounds at Chapin Town Hall and the flower bed at the Lexington County Sheriff’s Substation at 103 Columbia Avenue.
