Some high school basketball teams enter the final week of the regular season looking to either clinch region titles or solidify playoff berths.

The Brookland-Cayce boys basketball team clinched fourth place in Region 5-3A following a 62-58 win over Gilbert. Meanwhile, the Lady Bearcats needed wins over Swansea and Orangeburg-Wilkinson to have a chance to earn the final playoff spot.

Others like Northside Christian Academy have already locked up high seeds for the SCISA Class 2A playoffs. The Crusaders routed Thomas Sumter Academy 69-33 Friday night to clinch their second straight region title.

Triton Railey set a school record with eight of his team’s 15 3-pointers to finish with 28 points. Sullie Crider added 15 points and Jordan Martin finished with eight points.
Northside Christian closes out the regular season at Oakbrook Prep Friday.

Both defending Class 2A champion Gray Collegiate Academy basketball teams have already clinched region titles. With the fellow Region 4-2A schools still opting to forfeit their games to the charter school, the two teams will once again enter the post-season as top seeds.
This past weekend, the War Eagles split two games in Jacksonville, Fla. They lost 53-41 to Andrew Jackson last Friday and rebounded the next night with a 60-52 win over Potter’s House Christian.

Braylham Thomas had 22 points, Treyvon Maddox had 14 and Darius Carr finished with nine for Gray Collegiate.

The Lady Eagles dropped two straight road games to Asheville School out of North Carolina and Rabun Cap-Nacoochee out of Georgia. They close out the regular season Friday at home against Cardinal Newman.
