Reel Guys wins again at MSC tournament

Dreher Island was the dock site for the monthly Lake Murray fishing tournament held by the Midlands Striper Club.

The March 16 tournament had 22 teams who combined to catch 37 striped bass weighing a total of 292.64 pounds. All but four teams managed to bring in a full two fish creel to the scales.

Team Reel Guys, captained by Joby Wetzel and Marshall West, continued its winning ways with a total weight of 19.66 lbs. They also won the Team Wildman Big Fish Award sponsored by The Nichols Store with a 10.81-pound striper.

Well Hung In captained by Jason Tarlton with Brett McDowell and Sligh McDowell came in a close second with a total weight of 19.34 lbs.

Finishing in third place with a total weight of 18.75 was team Catch 22 captained by Terry Caulder along with Larry Martin.

Youth Angler – Sligh McDowell (Well Hung)

Middle of the Pack – Fish Whistle

Smallest Creel – Dad’s Memory (3.82 lbs.)

The Midlands Striper Club will hold its next monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on April 9 at the Flight Deck in Lexington. The club returns to Dreher Island for the April 20 tournament.
