The River Bluff men’s golf team looked to continue its winning ways in the post-season.
Having claimed the Anderson Bros Bank tournament and Region 4-5A title, the defending Class 5A Division I champions added the Lake Murray Cup to its trophy case. After the first two rounds of the Ryder Cup format event, the teams were all deadlocked at 142 strokes.
In the final round, Howie Vroon, Maddox McCamy, Cooper Raley, and Isaiah Bayon finished nine strokes (290) ahead of Lexington (299) and 16 ahead of Chapin (306). Vroon had a team-low score of 35.
On Monday, the Gators headed to Charleston Municipal for the Class 5A Division I Lower State qualifier. It finished second with a team score of 302 behind James Island in the overall standings.
Lexington placed sixth to qualify for the 2-day state final starting Monday in Conway.
