Teen arrested for armed robbery

An arrest has been made in an armed robbery that occurred on East Main Street August 14.

Around 2:30 pm, officers were dispatched to the Cedarcrest Village shopping center, at 955 East Main Street in Lexington, for an armed robbery.

When officers arrived they met with a man who stated he had just been robbed of his mobile phone by a white male who had a handgun. After the robbery, the suspect walked away in the direction of the Cedarcrest Village Apartments.

While this was happening, an officer was able to talk to the suspect on the mobile phone that had just been stolen. He began negotiating with the suspect to surrender and minutes later the suspect opened the door to the apartment. He was arrested without incident by officers.

During the investigation, it was found the suspect, in this case, is 15 years old and his name will not be released due to being a juvenile.

He has been transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice awaiting court and this case will be forwarded to the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office Family Court for prosecution.
