Dr. Brice Cockfield has been appointed as the new principal of Meadow Glen Elementary School by Lexington County School District One, effective July 1, 2024. Dr. Cockfield, currently serving as the principal of Carolina Springs Middle School, will assume his new role following the tenure of Jennifer McNair, who will transition to serve as the principal of Lexington High on the same date.
With a distinguished 24-year career in education, Dr. Cockfield brings a wealth of experience and leadership to Meadow Glen Elementary. His journey in education began in Saluda County, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Newberry College. During his tenure in Saluda County School District, he was honored as the district’s Teacher of the Year and held various leadership roles, including principal designee, interim principal at Saluda Primary, and adult education director.
Joining Lexington County School District One in 2006, Dr. Cockfield served as an assistant principal at Pelion Elementary for eight years before assuming the role of principal at Carolina Springs Middle School in 2015. Under his leadership, Carolina Springs Middle earned the prestigious National Schools to Watch designation, marking a significant achievement for Lexington One.
A dedicated lifelong learner, Dr. Cockfield holds two master’s degrees in education from the University of South Carolina, as well as an educational specialist degree. In 2014, he attained his doctorate in education with a focus on curriculum and instruction, also from USC. His professional affiliations include memberships in Phi Delta Kappa, the South Carolina Association of School Administrators, and the South Carolina Association of Middle Level Educators.
