H. E. Corley Elementary School teacher Brandi Floyd-Francis and 5th grader Rachel Gutierrez have been named the Irmo Chamber of Commerce’s Student and Teacher of the Month.
“Rachel’s teacher describes her as an awesome leader who is involved in numerous leadership roles in our school including Safety Patrol and Student Council,” H. E. Corley principal Jason Pollock said. “She is proactive by taking responsibility for her learning and is always thinking of others and how she can encourage them to make good choices. She is an amazing role model and I am so proud she is a student at H. E. Corley.”
Pollock said, “Mrs. Floyed-Francis has been at H.E. Corley for 3 years. She came in the midst of the pandemic. She instills a passion for art in all of our students. She has brightened up our hallways with student artwork and has a positive and engaging attitude that is infectious to others. She is a tremendous teacher and a great leader who I am so proud to work alongside.”
