LEXINGTON, S.C. – Lexington County School District One has announced the appointment of Jenny M. Garris as its new Executive Director of Information Technology, effective July 1, 2025. The decision was approved at the school board’s June 10 meeting.
Garris brings more than 20 years of experience in education and technology leadership, most recently serving as director of technology for School District Five of Lexington & Richland Counties. There, she led a 25-member team responsible for managing IT infrastructure, digital learning systems, and cybersecurity efforts.
Her leadership has focused on aligning technology with classroom instruction and expanding equitable access to devices and digital tools for students and teachers alike.
Before moving into district-level technology roles, Garris worked as an assistant principal and academic achievement specialist, where she emphasized the use of digital tools to improve learning outcomes. She began her career as a middle school teacher, leading technology-driven initiatives and managing federal grants that supported digital learning and student success.
Garris earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in Elementary Administration from Charleston Southern University. She holds multiple South Carolina education certifications and previously served as chair of the Technology Leaders Roundtable for the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
Lexington One leaders say Garris’ depth of experience and passion for educational technology make her well-suited to lead the district’s IT department into the future.
