Lake Murray holds Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing event

A heavy afternoon rainstorm was not enough to put a damper on the Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing tournament last Saturday at Lake Murray.

A site record 100 anglers took part in the event in Irmo. Claiming the top prize was arguably the hottest bass catcher on the tour in Jeremy Heath.

Ferreri with second-place finisher Nick Huddleston

The Hendersonville, N.C. resident caught four bass totaling 73.25 inches. The extra .25 was enough to beat out Fort Mill native Nick Huddleston for first place and $2,600.

Robert Sinker of Blythewood took third place with a haul of 71 inches.

This was the third event win in a row and the second straight main event win for Heath.

The award ceremony was held at the Harbison Theater in Irmo.

“We had an amazing group of sponsors in Lake Murray Country, LC Angler Paddle Sports and Buddy’s Marine, which allowed us to guarantee $2000 to first place and $1000 to second place,” said owner/administrator Vinny Ferreri. “With the TOC (Tournament of Champions) points being extremely important at this point of the season, we saw our highest attendance at a Lake Murray event, 100 anglers.”
