The final season at Lexington for girls’ soccer coach Chris Fryland finds him closing in on another Region 4-5A title.
The Lady Wildcats (12-1-2, 6-0) headed into Spring Break in first place with four matches remaining. They will all take place in a 10-day period starting April 14 at home against Chapin.
The winningest girls’ soccer coach in South Carolina High School League history, Fryland announced his retirement plans prior to the start of the season. A decade after leading the Lady Wildcats to their first state title, he now looks to close his career in similar fashion.
Meanwhile, the Lexington boys have an opportunity to move into a first-place tie the same night. They play host to first-place Chapin looking to avenge the 3-1 loss on March 20.
Both teams are ranked second behind Wando in the scorbord.com Top 10 Class 5A Division I rankings.
