Lexington Sweeps

Both Lexington teams opened defense of their Region 4-5A titles with a home sweep of Chapin Tuesday.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Wildcats held off a late rally to defeat the Lady Eagles 54-50.
Izzy Saville led all scorers with 17 points. Sydni Anderson finished with 14 points and Evie Godfrey added 10 for Lexington (6-7, 1-0).

Chapin got within two points in the final two minutes. Brooke Holmes had 15 points and Reagan Haggard posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Eagles (8-6, 0-1).

In the boys’ game, top-ranked Lexington got 30 points from senior Jaxon Prunty in the 73-61 win.

The Wildcats led as many as 27 points before the Eagles closed the gap to within 10 points in the fourth quarter. Cam Scott and Coulter Bell each had 10 points for Lexington, while Cayman Collins and Braydn Francis had 15 and 14 points, respectively for Chapin.

The Eagles return to action Tuesday at home against Dutch Fork.

White Knoll 61, River Bluff 54


McCoy Bell scored 18 points, Seth Sims had 13 and Devin Geronomi finished with 11 as the Timberwolves earned their first Region 4-5A win under new head coach Willie Thomas.

B.J. Etheridge led the Gators with 18 points and Yasir Cromer had 13. River Bluff plays host to archrival and top-ranked Lexington Friday in the WACH Fox High School Hoops Game of the Week sponsored by Rush’s.

White Knoll (9-10, 1-0) plays host to Dutch Fork Friday.
