Only one team remains undefeated in the Cayce/West Columbia area.
Northside Christian Academy is off to its best start in school history. Friday’s 37-12 win over Thomas Sumter Academy improved the Crusaders to 3-0 on the season.
It was also their first win in SCISA Class 3A Region I. The 6-team region also includes newcomer Spartanburg Day, Florence Christian, Trinity Collegiate and Wilson Hall.
Leading the way once again for Northside Christian Academy was senior B.J. Suits. For the third straight week, he accounted for four touchdowns in the first half.
This time, it was through the air where he found Tucker McGinty twice for 37 and nine yards, Asian Railey for seven yards and Mac Jackson for six yards. These were Suits’ first touchdown passes of the season.
In the second half, Suits rushed for two scores of 42 and three yards. He finished 10-12 passing for 200 yards and a team-high 88 rushing yards.
For the season, Suits has rushed for 371 yards and nine touchdowns and thrown for 427 yards.
McGinty had five receptions for 111 yards and Jackson finished with 78 rushing yards.
War Eagles down Gators
It was the first-ever football meeting between Gray Collegiate Academy and River Bluff last Friday.
The War Eagles made the most of their first-ever visit to The Swamp. Led by Trevon Williamson’s 222 rushing yards and two touchdowns, they came away with a 27-0 win.
Gray Collegiate Academy doubled River Bluff in total yards 376-183. Quarterback Xavier Wright was 8-19 passing for 141 yards and a touchdown.
Ryan Mobley led the defense with eight tackles and Damarion Wilson had two sacks for the War Eagles.
