Philharmonic’s Tasting Notes is March 31

The South Carolina Philharmonic will presents the 11th Anniversary of Tasting Notes March 31 from 6:30 – 9:30 PM at the SC State Museum (301 Gervais Street).

Tasting Notes is the orchestra’s signature fundraising event. The wine and food celebration will raise funds this year to support the organization’s artistic, education and community outreach programs.

Tickets are $125 per person and $200 per couple. Admission includes all food and libations. The event also boasts a silent auction, a cash cigar bar by Stoney Creek Cigars South, beer by Columbia Craft Brewing, live music by Reggie Sullivan, the Dreher High School Steel Drum Band, and performances from the Cola Samba Explosion. Tasting Notes’ grand level sponsor is First Citizens Bank and the Gold Level sponsor is Schmoyer & Company, LLC. Tickets may be purchased at www.scphilharmonic.com.

Following another sold out event last year, Tasting Notes has been the SC Philharmonic’s most successful and popular annual fundraising event for a decade. This year the event’s proceeds will support the organization’s artistic, education and outreach programs. “We’ve been taking music traditionally performed on stage into the community,” said Executive Director Rhonda Hunsinger. “We’ve realized that music is a great unifier and universal language that can connect us in our community. The expansion of our education and outreach initiatives is exciting, and the proceeds from Tasting Notes will support this work.” The organization continues its Healing Harmonies program that takes music into hospitals and other spaces that benefit from musical therapy and has grown the Link Up program to serve more than 7,000 Midlands elementary school students. New programs like Music in My Neighborhood, where the orchestra brings musicians into public spaces, schools, and other outlets to create an immersive connection to residents, provided its inaugural series in Irmo in the spring of 2024.

“One of the unique characteristics of Tasting Notes is the SC Phil’s relationship with our restaurant partners, vendors and wine distributors,” said SC Philharmonic Development and Deputy Director Robin Hallyburton. “They are not just business partners, but they are some of our strongest supporters and friends. Tasting Notes, like in years past, is a continued celebration of our community.”
