On August 8, the Richland County Conservation Commission (RCCC) helped unveil native wildflower pollinator gardens at Richland Library Ballentine in Irmo. The gardens create a habitat for frogs, toads and lizards.
RCCC worked with the S.C. Wildlife Federation, library staff and community volunteers on the project. Volunteers and others installed three split-rail fence gardens, composed of native plants that flower from spring through early fall, in the library’s “grass island.” Interpretive signs help educate visitors to the garden.
