The Chapin-Newberry Post 193/24 American Legion Baseball team is already working through the early games of the 2019 summer schedule.
Post 193/24 started regular season games last week at Lexington Post 7 with a 6-3 loss, and then back home at the Newberry College Smith Road Sports Complex the following night Post 193/24 beat Lexington 13-6 to kick off the first week with an even 1-1 count.
Early this week Chapin-Newberry played at Fort Mill where Post 193/24 took a 7-2 loss to settle at 1-2 with a home game against Rock Hill set for tonight, Thursday, at 7 pm.
Chapin-Newberry is the 2013, 2015 and 2018 South Carolina American Legion Baseball (ALB) State Champion and the 2015 ALB World Series Champion. The Post 193/24 seniors team plays its home games at the Newberry College Smith Road Complex, and there are also two Junior Legion teams playing at nearby high schools.
The Newberry Junior Legion team plays at Newberry High School and — just down the road from Newberry and up the road from Chapin — the new Mid-Carolina Junior Legion team plays at Mid-Carolina.
Chapin-Newberry’s seniors have just one game on tap next week. They will play at Rock Hill on Monday and then be off until Monday, June 10 when they play at Lancaster, followed by a home game versus Lancaster the next night, on Tuesday.
