Both the River Bluff boys and girls’ volleyball teams will open the Class 5A playoffs at home.
The first-year Gators played host to J.F. Byrnes on Tuesday. A win sets up an Upper State semifinal matchup Thursday either at Woodmont or in The Swamp against Boiling Springs.
River Bluff boys posted an 11-3 record in its first season.
The Lady Eagles earned a first-round bye after defeating Lexington in four sets to clinch the Region 3-5A title. After the Lady Wildcats won the first set 25-21, River Bluff rallied back to win the second set 26-24.
The final two sets were also close before the Lady Eagles won 28-26 and 25-22.
A third meeting Oct. 26 with the Lady Wildcats is possible should they have defeated Rock Hill on Wednesday.
