It was no secret the successor for Lexington girls’ soccer coach Chris Fryland was already on the team’s sidelines.
On Monday, the school made it official with the promotion of assistant coach Sarah Moore to the head position.
A former Lady Wildcat player under Fryland, Moore brings ‘a deep appreciation for the tradition and excellence that have been established over the years’, as stated in the press release.
In taking over for the winningest girls’ soccer coach in S.C. High School League history, Moore is committed to continuing his legacy. Reflecting on her time coaching alongside Coach Fryland, Moore credits much of her development as a coach and leader to his mentorship.
After getting the opportunity to begin coaching straight out of college, Moore saw her growth and confidence level encouraged by Fryland. She credited his ability to challenge those around him to reach their full potential while genuinely caring for each athlete for leaving a lasting impact on the program and on herself personally.
“I am looking forward to continuing the legacy and program built by Coach Fryland that has shaped me, as well as countless others, into the players and people we are today,” Moore said.
As she takes the helm, Coach Moore’s philosophy centers on building meaningful relationships with every athlete. She believes soccer is more than a game—it is a platform for teaching life lessons and preparing young women for success beyond high school.
Her goal is to foster a culture built on growth, accountability, hard work, respect, and kindness. She expects her players to excel in the classroom, support one another as teammates, and continually strive to become the best versions of themselves both on and off the field.
