Your health needs a good team, too

By Radley West

In the South, football season is practically a holiday.

Every August, hope springs eternal. Every fan believes this is their year. Coaches are finalizing game plans, players are learning their assignments, and everyone knows one thing:

No championship has ever been won by one player.

Sure, the quarterback gets most of the attention, but without an offensive line, he’s spending the afternoon looking up at the sky. Receivers need someone to throw the ball. Running backs need blockers. Even the best kicker still needs a good snap and hold.

Winning takes a team.

The same is true for your health.

Many people spend years looking for one person to fix everything. One doctor. One pill. One exercise. One magic stretch. But our bodies are far more complicated than that.

Sometimes your chiropractor is the right coach to call. Sometimes it’s your primary care physician. Sometimes you need an orthopedic specialist, a physical therapist, a personal trainer, a massage therapist, or a registered dietitian.

The best healthcare doesn’t compete; it collaborates.

Each professional brings a different set of skills to the field. When everyone communicates and works toward the same goal, you get something much better than isolated care. You get a game plan.

At our office, we believe our job isn’t to be the entire team. It’s to play our position well while helping patients find the right teammates when they need them. If chiropractic care is the best option, we’ll tell you. If someone else is better equipped to help, we’ll tell you that, too.

After all, every successful football team knows you don’t win by asking the kicker to play offensive tackle.

The same goes for your health.

Build a great team, trust the process, and let everyone do what they do best.

That’s a winning season on the field and in life.
