Coronavirus Resources
As we continue to recover from the pandemic, it is important to stay healthy and safe. Please continue following Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines to help keep you, your family, and your friends protected against this disease. If you or your family have concerns about the coronavirus, please visit the CDC’s website or call 1-800-CDC-INFO.
There are also numerous resources from the South Carolina and Federal government to help. You can find a list of these resources on my website, here. This list is updated daily to ensure you and your family have what you need to stay safe and healthy.
Second District Success
This week, I spoke on the House floor to congratulate the RiteDose Corporation of Columbia for being selected as a subcontractor to produce pre-filled, single-dose syringes for the coronavirus vaccine. I commend RiteDose for being on the frontlines of America’s effort to secure a vaccine. Watch my speech here or by clicking below.
Designating Iranian-Backed Militia as Terrorist Organization
On Thursday, I introduced the Badr Organization Designation Act of 2020. Badr is Iran’s oldest proxy in Iraq and has the blood of Americans, Iraqis, Syrians, and Lebanese on its hands. Not only was it commanded and funded by Qassem Soleimani, the terrorist leader of Iran’s revolutionary guard who President Trump heroically eliminated from the battlefield earlier this year, it also spearheaded and led the terrorist attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad almost one full year ago.
It is absolutely necessary if we are to truly have maximum pressure on Iran that Badr is designated as a terrorist organization. This legislation would do just that and I urge the State Department to designate Badr before the one-year anniversary of the attack. Read more here.
NDAA Conference Report
On Wednesday, I signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference Report. I am so grateful to have served on this year’s NDAA Conference Committee and to have worked with my colleagues to advance this important legislation that funds our nation’s military.
More Jobs Added in November
Thanks to President Trump, we are continuously recovering from this pandemic. This is most evident in the November Jobs Report. In spite of recent state and local government lockdowns and restrictions, the economy has now recovered roughly 6 in 10 of pandemic job losses in only 7 months.
A total of 245,000 jobs were added in November and the unemployment rate dropped to 6.7 percent. Since the April pandemic-low, 12.3 million jobs have been added. I am grateful that we are on the road to recovery.
