Lexington-Richland School District Five has named seasoned educator and human resources professional Tamara Turner its new director of personnel.
Turner has served as the district’s coordinator of teacher evaluation since 2017. She replaces Winnie Brown, who will retire at the end of the school year after nearly 20 years in the district.
“I am fortunate to have been awarded the opportunity to contribute to human resources for the past two years, and I look forward with enthusiasm to building upon our past successes, while progressively helping to move the district even further,” Turner said. “I am honored to serve.”
Prior to serving as the district’s coordinator of teacher evaluation, Turner served as assistant principal of instruction at Dutch Fork High School from 2014 to 2017. Since starting her career in education in 2001 as a biology teacher in the Greenville County School District, she has served in several other school positions, including a biology and physical science teacher and STEM Coordinator at Dutch Fork High School. Turner was approved for the new post during a school board meeting on May 20.
School District Five Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Allison Jacques said, “Ms. Turner will transition into this role seamlessly. She already has assisted our human resources team in teacher recruitment efforts and personnel matters. She will promote continuity, but not complacency. We are so proud to have Ms. Turner serve in this new capacity.”
