South Carolina American Legion Baseball state finals are under way this week with a midlands team in competition.
Lexington Post 7 beat West Columbia Post 79 last week in the second round to advance to the finals tournament against Camden Post 17, which defeated Chapin/Newberry Post 193/24 last week to advance.
In last week’s second round Post 7 won the best-of-three series in two games; 9-5 and 5-2.
In this week’s finals, Post 7 lost a close one 7-6 at Lexington on Monday to advance to play Charleston Post 147 in the losers bracket of the double elimination tournament. Camden advanced in the winners bracket to play Florence Post 1.
After Wednesday’s game was postponed because of field conditions, Lexington and Charleston were set to play on Thursday at James Island High School. The finals will then shift to Segra Park on Friday with the tournament concluding on Sunday with a new state champion.
