The Fourth of July weekend coincided with the end of the first half of the regular season for the Lexington County Blowfish.
After 26 games, the team had a 13-13 record heading into the All-Star break. On Saturday, Lexington County held its annual holiday intrasquad game between the Blowfish and Glowfish.
The Glowfish took a 7-0 lead in the first inning capped by a 3-run homer by Larson Scholtz. Lexington graduate Jackson Burton also drove in three runs for the Glowfish in the 12-6 win.
During the game, Lexington County recognized the Class 4A softball champion Gray Collegiate Academy. The Lady War Eagles went 34-0 in winning a third straight state title and extended their winning streak to 36 games – fifth longest in S.C. High School League history.
This was also Blowie the mascot’s 21st birthday. The face of the organization since the team’s arrival first in Columbia, now in Lexington, Blowie was also celebrated by the team.

Following the game, the team recognized all present past and present military members. The Blowfish then closed the evening with the second straight night of “Patriotic Fireworks in the Sky”.
The second half of the regular season resumed Wednesday at the Florence Flamingos. It’s a home-at-home series with the two teams meeting again Thursday in Lexington
