The Symphonic Wind Ensemble at Dutch Fork High School has been invited to perform as a featured ensemble at the South Carolina Music Educators Association’s (SCMEA) Professional Development Conference in Columbia on February 9, 2024.
“I am incredibly proud that these students were chosen to perform at SCMEA this school year,” said Dutch Fork High School Director of Bands Jeremy Ley. “These students have put in tremendous work over the past couple of years, and to be selected to perform at this conference is a huge honor for our band program. I am grateful for the parents and staff of our band program, as well as the staff and administration of Dutch Fork High School for helping our band students receive this invitation to perform.”
Dutch Fork High School was one of many schools who submitted performance recordings to be considered as a featured ensemble at the Professional Development Conference. A committee of music educators evaluates the performance recordings and selects the top groups. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble at Dutch Fork High School was one of only two high school bands who were invited to perform at the conference.
Dutch Fork High School Principal Dr. Gerald Gary said, “What an amazing accomplishment for our Symphonic Winds in being selected to perform at such a distinguished event. It’s a testament to their hard work and dedication as they continue to make our school and community proud.”
