Lexington-Richland School District Five is set to host its second district Magnet Fair on Thursday, January 4, 2023, providing families within the district a valuable opportunity to explore the diverse elementary magnet and choice offerings available at several schools.
The in-person Magnet Fair will take place at the Center for Advanced Technical Studies from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. The event will showcase all magnet schools and programs accessible to elementary students in grades 4K-5. Each magnet program will have a designated booth, offering insights into the unique features and advantages of their themed programs.
This event provides an interactive platform for participants to gain comprehensive knowledge about each magnet school and program. Representatives from each school will be available to engage with attendees and address any inquiries. Among the featured elementary magnet programs are Dutch Fork Elementary School Academy of Environmental Sciences, Escolares Academy at Harbison West Elementary School, Harbison West Elementary School Gifted and Talent Development Magnet, H. E. Corley Elementary School Montessori Magnet and Leadership Magnet, Leaphart Elementary School STEAM Magnet, Nursery Road Elementary School Arts Magnet, and Seven Oaks Elementary School Global Magnet.
Sara Wheeler, the Magnet Director for School District Five, emphasized the district’s commitment to enhancing academic programs through magnet and other choice offerings. The aim is to present families with high-quality choices that contribute to students’ success in both school and future careers. The Magnet Fairs play a crucial role in raising awareness about the diverse opportunities available within the district.
Magnet and Choice programs in the district follow an application and lottery process. The application window is currently open and will close at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
