George Bryan Golf: Upcoming SCGA events

The South Carolina Golf Association’s next two events on their calendars are some fun ones! With the 39th Annual Players Four Ball Championship being held at Columbia CC on September 9th, and the P.O.S.M. Championship being hosted at Woodcreek Club on September 18th.

Hopefully, you will be getting your golf game ready for the best time of the year to play golf.

As temperatures cool off and football season starts up courses have more availability! If you are out practicing on a range make sure to set up your alignment stations to give yourself the best feedback possible about where your golf ball is going. If you are a right-handed golfer your feet need to be aimed parallel left of your target, if you are left-handed it’s just the opposite your feet need to be parallel right of the target. Having great alignment can help you be more consistent with your ball striking.

Michael Sims (cc of Lexington) teamed up with Garland Farrell (Greenville) teamed up at Florence CC to take the 2023 SCGA Mid Am. Four Ball Championship, the team had rounds of 61 and 63 to finish tied at -16 and won in a one-hole playoff. Also, CC of Lexington members Evan Phillips and Jordan Sease finished tied for 6th at -12 under par!

There is brand new golf programming coming this fall and much of it will be available through the local recreation entities. ICRC LRAC, & RCRC will work in conjunction on several of these initiatives. One is a “Family Junior” which is where the entire family comes out to learn together. There are two levels to choose from, basic and advanced. Other programming includes; Ladies’ Clinics, Play Skills Clinics and with most of the learning taking place on the actual course. There will be a brand new “Golf League” that details will be released as the facilities to host are completed.

You can now see some programming at these websites;
