Conservative Candidate for State House Proposes Action to Safeguard SC Ballots
Rebecca Blackburn Hines, Republican candidate for South Carolina House District 85, announced her new proposal to finally secure Palmetto State elections. She is also proposing voter registration by political party.
“South Carolinians are demanding that their elections be both fair and secure,” Blackburn Hines said. “Election integrity will be my #1 priority as a legislator. We must commit to reforming state elections. Voter integrity is one of the most fundamental principles of state government and it has been neglected for far too long.”
In addition to supporting strict measures included in a bill already making its way through the South Carolina House and Senate, Blackburn Hines’ plan outlines three additional measures to strengthen state election security:
- Require a valid government ID for ALL absentee ballots.
- Compel voters to keep their voter registration current with SC Election commission if they have not voted in eight years or more.
- Implement registration by political party.
“I am committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure all our elections are more secure. I also believe we must change the law to make sure South Carolina Republicans are the ones nominating South Carolina Republicans,” said Blackburn Hines.
The Republican Primary for South Carolina House District 85 will be held on June 14th. Voters are encouraged to register to vote with the South Carolina Election Commission at least 30 days ahead of the election.
